Seattle 4 day itinerary: mountains, museums and more!
I spent four full days in Seattle after my trip to Vancouver, and let me tell you I absolutely loved it. As with Vancouver, everyone was laid back and friendly and there is lots to see and do. An important note though – it’s a pretty expensive place to visit!
(For full disclosure, if you click and make a purchase through some of the adverts on this page I may earn a small commission. This doesn’t come at any additional cost to you. Many thanks for your support, I really appreciate it!)
Where I stayed in Seattle
I stayed at Sonder The Boylston, which is in the Pike/Pine area about 20 minutes walk from Pike Place Market. It’s a trendy yet welcoming area with lots of restaurants, bars, and quirky shops.
Sonder The Boylston was a really modern and clean hotel, and was quiet despite the bars nearby. You also forgo the need to interact with people (a bonus sometimes!) and instead of a key you get a code to enter both the hotel and your room. It was also not extortionately priced either, unlike the majority of hotels in Seattle.
If you’re a Starbucks fan, Pike/Pine is also home to the Starbucks Reserve Roastery. It’s more of a refined affair than your average Starbucks. Here you can try artisanal coffee creations and delicious pastries, and you can sit alongside some of the equipment used in roasting coffee (although I am pretty sure they’re not in use!)
Here is my Seattle 4 day itinerary below. As you can tell from the below I went full tourist on this trip. I regret nothing!
Day 1: Space Needle and Museums
Visit the Space Needle in the morning (as this would be the only place with a bottleneck on number of visitors). Then, visit Chihuly Garden and Glass which is next door. Then, after lunch, visit MoPOP (Museum of Pop Culture).
You can read more about my day trip to visit the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, and MoPOP here!
Day 2: Snoqualmie Falls and Pike Place Market
Take a tour to Snoqualmie Falls (you can get tickets for the half-day tour of Seattle and Snoqualmie Falls I went on here); in the afternoon, explore Pike Place Market and Seattle’s waterfront.
You can read about how my half-day tour to Snoqualmie Falls went here.
Day 3: Mount Rainier
Take a full day trip to Mount Rainier and see some of the natural beauty of the area. (You can get tickets for the day trip I took from Seattle to Mt Rainier here, or by clicking on the tour below!)
You can read about my day trip to Mt Rainier here.
Day 4: Klondike Gold Rush Museum and an Underground Tour of Seattle’s streets
Visit the Klondike Gold Rush Museum in the morning and Bill Spiedel’s Underground Tour in the afternoon, exploring beneath Seattle’s hollow pavements (yes you read that right!)
Options for a longer trip – visiting Vancouver!
Before visiting Seattle I visited Vancouver for three days. Getting across the border is super easy. It takes around 4 hours and you can take either the Amtrak or use one of the bus services that specialises in cross-border travel (I used Quick Shuttle). You can read my Vancouver 3 day itinerary here.
